Frequently asked questions

  1. How do I secure a group tour?
    We will do our best to accommodate your tour requests. Scheduling depends on staff and date availability. Please call us so we can confirm that your dates are available.
  2. What are your hours?
    Our normal operating hours for 2018 are Tuesday, Wed. and Thurs. from 9:00am until 3:00pm. Scheduling a large or small tour can be outside of these hours on Mondays through Fridays. For Saturday tours, we ask that your group have 15 or more people. If you have less than 15 people in your group and can’t make it during the week, please contact us to see if we can accommodate you and, if possible, add you into another Saturday group.
  3. How much time should I plan for my tour?
    Tours can take anywhere between 1 and 3 hours depending on the size of your group and what your group wishes to see. If you include the stable, add 30-60 mins to your time. If you want to rent golf carts, plan a day long adventure.
  4. What is your admission fee?
    We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization. As such, we offer you our vast collection free of charge, and work solely on honorable donations.
  5. We plan to travel by bus. Can you accommodate us?
    Yes, we can accommodate small shuttle buses and regular school buses. At this time, we cannot take larger coach buses.
  6. Is there space for my group to have a meal?
    We offer a pavilion with seating for up to 100 guests. Our staff will set up tables and chairs that will accommodate your size group. You may choose to bring your own meal or cater something in. For buffet style catering, we recommend Cornerstone Café & Catering. They can be reached at (763) 295-3888. Please contact us for other catering ideas and contact information. If the ones we talk to you about don’t suite your needs, please feel free to use a caterer of your choice.
  7. Can my group rent Golf Carts? How much do they cost?
    Yes! Prices tend to change yearly as we rent from a third-party vendor. On average, a 4-passenger golf cart can cost $40-$50 per cart plus shipping, which is normally around $100 for 10 carts. We have over 25 miles of trails open for exploration, and we even offer a mini scavenger hunt! If this interests your group, please contact us for more information.
  8. If I add the stable to my tour, what can I expect?
    The stable is the Old Macalester College Fieldhouse from St. Paul, MN, reconstructed as a horse barn with over 90% recycled materials used for its construction. When added to your tour, you can tour the barn and see a variety of horses. If scheduled ahead of time, we may be able to accommodate a small horse demonstration.   9. Are your facilities Handicap accessible?
    We have doors that allow handicap access to and from the buildings. However, some areas within the museum are too tight for full access.
  10. When should I tell you how many people are in my group?
    Please let us know a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your tour how many people you will have in your group. Rough estimates work and will help us prepare and staff for your arrival. We need to know this to make sure you have a great experience!
  11. Why do you need to know the number of cars in my group?
    This allows us to know how many cars are coming so we can plan parking for your group.
  12. How do I return my tour sheet to you? When should I send it back?
    Fill the form out within the PDF right on your computer and send it back via email ( Print, fill it out and scan it into your computer and send it back via email ( If you would prefer to mail your form back, please mail it to Veit Automotive Foundation, P.O.   13. What is the address that I can put in my GPS?
    914 80th Street NW, Buffalo, MN 55313. This is the address that you will need for directions. This will lead you to our paved, hot rod friendly entrance, Hot Rod Alley. Drive 0.5 miles through the woods to the museum parking area. Please find written directions included with this FAQ sheet.
  14. Do you close on Major Holidays?
    We are closed on all major holidays, including but not limited to, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We are also closed every Sunday.
